I love my life!!! Well, today at least.
Ok so it’s 5 am and a can’t sleep… So I figured, why not blog about my AMAZING day. I woke up today to a tweet from a friend talking about a wizard wrock show in OKC, so I made a snap decision, told my mom I wouldn’t be home at night, packed a bag and drove 2.5 hours to see a concert. I had no idea who would be there, but I needed to get out of the house and I’m SO glad I did!
So I walked in and didn’t recognize the person singing, but it was a good song, so I walked around until I found my friends… And saw some other familiar faces as well. The very first person I ever heard sing wrock was a girl named Lena (the butterbeer exerience) and she was the second act up tonight! I almost freaked out when I saw her walk on stage… Then she started playing the opening notes to THE first wrock song I ever heard. Well my entire group screamed and scared her… She said “wow! That’s never happened before…” and gave us a huge smile before singing her hit song “Accio Hot Guy”.
Then another favorite walked on stage… Jarrod Perkins (Gred and Forge) started singing new songs I didn’t recognize and I kinda found myself zoning out. Until I heard the opening notes of the hilariously dirty song “brotherly love” and was suddenly jumping up and down singing along at the top of my lungs.
I was already thinking “this can’t get better”… And then they announced another name I didn’t know. Sone band called Skyway Flyer got up on stage and said something about wrocking out to a ministry of magic song and I began to get excited again. “accio love” started playing on the speakers and this guy was singing along perfectly. After nearly losing it (accio love was me and my ex-girlfriends song), i realized why he sounded so good singing the song. 1/5 of the ministry of magic, the most famous wizard rock band ever, was standing less that 10 feet from me! He apparently started a side project called skyway flyer which does a collection of nerdy songs he’s written, including a parody of California girls called California dorks. Jason munday has become a new favorite of mine.
And then, the guy everyone was apparently waiting for came on stage to deafening applause. The wizard wrock heart throb himself, alex carpenter (the Remus lupins) was right in front if me. Though I hadn’t heard any of his songs since 2005 I danced along with everyone else and pretended I new the words. My group even got noticed by him during the concert! In between songs. He stops and goes “now, I don’t want to play favorites here, but this group I over here…” andhe points at us “knows how to dance! I think there must be a trampoline under the carpet or something”.
So after the concert I bought $60 worth of merch, 5 CDs, and a tshirt. Got Lena to sign her CD for me, and got pictures with everyone! The first guy singing who I didn’t recognize, his name is Frederick (Fred Lives), and when I was getting a picture he started to joke around and just talk. It was awesome… He goes “so, do you like my music or do you just want a picture because I look like Robert pattinson?”. I hadn’t even noticed that he totally did look like robert, so I told him that, which seemed to make him very happy. Apparently ge gets tired of teenage girls thinking he’s someone he’s not… And he actually turned out to be a really great guy!
Well, I think my post is long enough, i’ve been writing for about 45 minutes… So I’m gonna see if getting all of this off my mind helps me go to sleep since I have to be up in 3 hours to drive my aunt back to Tulsa with me. :)
